My journey into photography began over fifty years ago with my father’s camera. It was a simple device—no settings, no dials—and it held a roll of film with just twelve precious exposures. Because developing was expensive, every click of the shutter had to count. I still remember my father’s first lesson: “Keep the camera steady and the sun at your back.” With only two frames left on the roll, I spent two days cycling through the neighborhood, searching for the perfect subjects. When I finally collected the prints a week later, the thrill of seeing those two successful images stayed with me forever. In the decades since, I have moved from the chemical scent of the darkroom to the digital frontier. Yet, despite the instant gratification of modern technology, my philosophy remains unchanged. The images in this collection are made with intention and developed with care. Even now, I work with my father’s voice in the back of my mind, knowing that a thousand shots can never replace the value of a single, thoughtful composition. |
